Helen, Enid and Karen were on Radio 5 Live this morning talking about Chorlton Good Neighbours and how we go about befriending older people. The clip begins with Enid & Karen talking to presenter Rachel Burden about how their friendship has developed and then Helen gave the background to how Good Neighbours years of experience has helped develop a safe and personal service
The reason for this discussion was that NHS England’s “Winter Friends” initiative, has been launched in Nov 2013 which encouraged people to check on elderly friends and neighbours over the winter months. However, The aim was to get 100,000 signed up as volunteers, but only 2,000 have applied so far. see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25912688
Enid
Helen discussed this issue later the same morning on BBC radio Hereford & Worcester with presenter Elliott Webb (even though he calls it “Charlton” rather than “Chorlton”)
