Local Information update

Chorlton precinct development
Last week Councillors Mathew Benham and Mandie Shilton Godwin came to coffee morning to talk about the precinct development. Everyone is very much encouraged to fill in the ONE chorlton questionnaire when they receive it
It includes details about
  • the aspirations for the site;
  • how people can get involved in the conversation;
  • contact details for the one chorlton team ;
  • an indicative timeline; and
  • a questionnaire that they are  encouraging people to complete and return.

    The first One Chorlton conversation will run until
    Monday 21 August 2023, with the feedback helping shape the work throughout the summer to develop the masterplan..
Next Thursday 17th August we have a colleague from United Utilities coming at 10.30am to chat about the services they can support older residents with ; anyone can just bob down and hear what they have to say .
Remember also the digital drop each Thursday 9.45- 11.30am for anyone who has an issue with their mobile phone or laptop or tablet ; just turn up and one of the volunteers will hopefully be able to find an answer to your query.

Tuesday Snooker and social afternoon at South West Manchester Cricket club, on Ellesmere Road 2-3.30pm
The venue is lovely and last week a couple of our ladies turned up to sit and watch the snooker and have a couple of lagers! Anyone of our members can go along ; just ask for David Balderstone, our worker who oversees that session  and you will be made very welcome .

Here are other bits of information for you from various colleagues ;

2.Free Home Delivery Service for Books

Books to Go provides a home delivery service for Manchester residents of any age who have difficulty leaving their home or have issues with access. With over 30,000 items of stock there is bound to be something you will like to read. Manchester Libraries have books in ordinary and large-print size, talking books, music CDs and films on DVD. You can also access digital services anytime, where you can download e-books, digital versions of your favourite magazine, audio books and use our online reference library. The staff can show you how to get started.

How does it work? When you join the service you will be asked to give the experienced staff an idea of what you like to read and they will choose books for you according to your preferences.

Is there a charge? No, the service is completely free. Anyone who has difficulty leaving their home, or is caring for someone who does, can register for the free Books to Go service.
