Chorlton Good Neighbours have been given several KOMP devices by the Good Things Foundation which focuses on digital inclusion and is also the National Device Bank (see http://www.goodthingsfoundation.org).
Komp was developed by a Norwegian company ‘No Isolation’ which describe the Komp as a “one button computer connecting generations” (see http://www.noisolation.com)
We got our older model Komps for free, but buying one of their latest would cost you £699 and £19 per month! It also requires the receiver (the older person) to have access to wifi, which cuts out those who are the most digitally excluded
Here is Kay’s report on using the Komp for a few weeks. She loves it as an extra way of staying in touch with her family, but I doubt whether she would want to keep one if she had to pay anything like the commercial price
