This talk on “Charities response to Manchester’s Industrial Revolution” looks at how charities mushroomed from 1830 onwards to tackle the poverty and dire conditions for the growing population of the city. The impact of the charities is illustrated by the Wood Street Mission which like many of the other charities has survived to this day.
