The Art Treasures Exhibition of 1857, held in Manchester, was a monumental art exhibition, considered the largest in the UK’s history, and often dubbed “the greatest show on earth” due to its immense scale.
It featured over 16,000 artworks loaned from private collections across Britain, attracted more than 1.3 million visitors, and helped establish the foundation for modern public art museums and collections in the UK.
