Progress on the Good Neighbours garden

As part of a project to get more older men involved in Chorlton Good Neighbours we formed a Gardening Club at St Ninian’s Church where we are based. Our aim was to transform a piece of wasteland at the Church into a garden and vegetable plot that all our members could enjoy

Well, after just over a year, our group, led by part time worker, Carolyn O’Hanlon have transformed this:

In order to celebrate our achievement when during the bitter winter we managed to erect a wonderful greenhouse, we are having an official opening of the greenhouse by Councillor Sheila Newman as it was a Council grant that enabled us to purchase the greenhouse

Already last year we were able to sell some of our produce to members who attend the Good neighbours coffee mornings and we will have much more fresh produce to offer later this summer, including a greenhouse full of tomatoes!

In order to celebrate our achievement when during the bitter winter we managed to erect a wonderful greenhouse, we are having an official opening of the greenhouse by Councillor Sheila Newman on Thursday June 20th 10.30am at St Ninians Church, Wilbraham Road, Chorlton. Come and see a video about our group, and take a look at the garden, with tea, coffee & snacks. All welcome
