Volunteer Training on Monday
Monday evening we had a refresher training session for new volunteers. Our trainer Debra McCallion went over confidentiality, safeguarding,what was working well and the importance of boundaries. The group also discussed strategies for dealing with challenge

Inter-generational Session on Tuesday

Tuesday morning we had another brilliant inter-generational session at Chorlton High School as part of the Chorlton Book Festival. A group of 8 older CGN members and 8 students sat in the library discussing Remembrance and the importance of commemoration and the different forms it could take.
Wednesday – dress rehearsals, That’s Manchester TV & councillors in the evening
Wednesday 21st Nov was incredibly busy, It was the day before the play and so there was the dress rehearsal of Snowed In, plus the arrival of That’s Manchester TV to do some filming in the morning.

After the exercise class and craft session in the afternoon we were back in again for the evening for a meeting with our local Councillors , when 10 volunteers came to talk with them about how they support the older people referred to us , what motivates them and what they are learning from the experience. Our Active case manager colleague Gilly Lee also came to update us about her understanding so far of the Manchester Local Care Organisation.

Friday – a new CGN Leaflet
Friday 23rd Nov, Helen Hibberd, the CGN coordinator, met with volunteer Louise Kennedy who has been helping us design a new generic leaflet. What a brilliant few days and an awful lot done and achieved.
