Manchester’s post industrial landscape has been transformed in the last 20 years with the rise of the skyscraper. There are now at least 20 Skyscrapers (100m or over) built or under construction in the city centre area. In this talk I will look at the history of skyscrapers in Manchester and the arguments that rage over whether this development, strongly promoted by the City Council planners, should be welcomed or not
