The History talk on Tues Aug 11th starting at 1.30pm will be given by Dr Christopher Griffiths, Curator of Archaeology at Manchester Museum.
He will take us through the Museum’s archaeological collections including local discoveries made in and around Manchester and extraordinary objects from across the world, that reveal stories of people, places and connections across thousands of years. The session will include a selection of objects for handling and an opportunity to get up close to some of the Museum’s archaeological collections.
I doubt however, that Chris won’t be coming with the 3000 year old bronze age sword (see photo) as it still looks pretty lethal and he might get stopped by the police!

The Taplow sword is Late Bronze Age Thames Valley object (1150–1000 BCE), may have been placed in a river or bog as part of funerary rituals, accompanying the dead in Britain.
