Singers, dancing, poetry , food , flag waving , a sea of red white and blue …. and singing the national anthem as many times as we could ! That meant only one thing …our own Coronation party !
80 members and volunteers gathered at Houghend Police & Social club last Thursday 4th to hold its own Coronation Party . Everyone came, some dressed head to toe in red , white and blue, apart from Dennis who went one step further and came as the king !
The food was lovely , David Balderstone acted as DJ and compere , and the money raised from our raffle went to the waitresses who worked so hard.
Local poet and volunteer Jolivia Gaston wrote a poem especially for the occasion. Singer Little Mo Peters belted out songs that were linked to Prince Charles such as The Three Degrees ‘ when will I see you again’ and Janet Harrison sang Jerusalem and led us with the National Anthem . It was all a wonderful way to start the weekend of celebrations, and we thank everyone – including the volunteer drivers – for making it such a memorable occasion .
