“I came out shivering” Bob Cowan and the sinking of HMS Mashona, 1941

Bob Cowan was 93 years old when I interviewed him in 2012. He was born in Moss Side, Manchester. This is part one of his memories and experience of war at sea during WW2. Here he talks about the sinking of HMS Mashona in 1941 . In later videos I will look at his experience on the Arctic Convoys, the Malta convoys (on HMS Ashanti), the war in the Far East on HMS Swiftsure and passing through Hiroshima just after the atom bomb was dropped. Bob lived in Chorlton, Manchester with his wife Joyce and they were active members of Chorlton Good Neighbours
